I'm feeling really good right now! If you're not a Walmart shopper, if you hate Walmart, don't bother reading any further. Personally, I hate shopping all together, unless it's for fun stuff; however, "fun" does NOT include clothing or food! Walmart is not on my list of favorite places but yes, I shop there and yes, I save money. Here's what happened today...
My grocery bill today was $86.62 and I didn't spend a dime! My groceries wound up being free! That was all from rebates with price matching over the past three months (and doubling with Bluebird).
Savings Catcher and Bluebird: do you know what those are?
Walmart has a program called "Savings Catcher". Easiest price matching ever! No need to look at ads to see who has the best deals when you have the Savings Catcher. After doing your shopping at Walmart simply use your smartphone to scan the barcode on the receipt (or manually enter it on the computer), then the Savings Catcher will scan through all the ads from area stores, find the lowest prices and retro match them. Granted, Walmart usually has the lowest prices, but on average the Catcher is finding up to $4 to give back to me! Of course the $4 is in Walmart Bucks but that's ok ~ I grocery shop there all the time.
THEN there's the Bluebird Card from American Express. Essentially it's a prepaid money card BUT, through February you get DOUBLE the Saving Catcher amount when you load your Walmart Bucks onto the Bluebird Card. That "$4" instantly becomes "$8"!!!
I also use coupons and have recently started using the app "ibotta". Not sure how I feel about it yet. It's been kind of annoying, but not enough for me to get rid of it. Today, through ibotta I got $2.25 back in cash ~ that pays out to PayPal. Nice!
UPDATE: On this free $86.62 grocery trip - I just now got 3.28 back on the Savings Catcher!! Now transferring it to the Bluebird card to double it = $6.56! Hooray!!! :)
